Prey Veng Province: A newly constructed concrete road, not even inaugurated, has now collapsed. The road is only left with concrete slabs floating on the road, causing residents of Prek Cham and Prek Raing villages to be very worried.
This concrete road is 2,020 meters long and 9 meters wide, connecting from National Road No. 11 at the corner of Prek Khsay Temple and extending to the front of Prek Cham Temple in Blekh Prasat commune. of Peam Rok district, Prey Veng province.
Residents of Prek Cham and Prek Raing villages alike said that this concrete road is very important for their livelihoods. It helps facilitate the transportation of agricultural products to the market, students traveling to school, and especially for patients who are blocked by trees at night.
Residents of both villages stated that when the concrete road was built, they were very happy. Riding a motorbike through this road, they smiled and closed their mouths, but now they haven’t been able to do much, and suddenly they saw that the ground on both sides of the road had collapsed, leaving only concrete slabs in the middle of the field, which made them worried, fearing that the road would collapse and be damaged.
Mr. Kang Sokhan, the head of Blekh Prasat commune, said that this concrete road was a gift from the Royal Government, which began construction in early March and was completed in late November 2024, and until now, the inauguration ceremony has not been held yet.
The village head confirmed that the concrete road really has a landslide on both sides of the road. He also reported it to the contractor who built the road. The company claimed that when the ground dries up, the company will fill the soil and repair the road. All of this has been done again, but he does not know how many years the contractor has been repairing and maintaining it.
